Saxophonist Langston Hughes II headlines, with a kids' opener from beloved DC entertainer The Great Zucchini.
Jazz in The Parks returns to the Great Lawn with saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Langston Hughes II, a Howard University and Juilliard-trained artist whose sound weaves together gospel, DC's jazz lineage, and New York's jazz scene. Hughes has performed with Wynton Marsalis & the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and is Artistic Director of the FAME Jazz Band. The evening opens at 5:00 PM with a magic show from The Great Zucchini, a DC-area kids' entertainer for over 25 years, before Hughes takes the stage at 6:00 PM. Bring a picnic and blanket, or grab a bite from nearby Marketplace restaurants. Free of charge.
